How To Root ZTE Racer With Universal Androot App / SuperOneClick Root

How To Root ZTE Racer With Universal Androot App / SuperOneClick Root
If you bargained for a ZTE Racer and now looking for a root, then there is some interesting news for you. After browsing through heaps of forum discussions and related blog comments, I came to the conclusion that ZTE Racer is rootable with Universal Androot App.
Previously we dedicated a whole post on explaining how to root your Android phone with Universal Androot App, but with ZTE Racer; we will keep it simple. So let’s cut the talk and get down to rooting your ZTE Racer Racer.
  • The first step is to connect your phone over a Wi-Fi network and launch browser.
  • In the browser, type the following URL: http://blog.23corner.com/2010/08/12/universal-androot-1-6-1-released
  • once you land on the page, navigate down to where it says “APK” along with QR Code pictures.
  • Now download this application from here and wait for the installation to complete.
  • Once the installation of Universal Androot app is complete, launch app.
  • Now follow onscreen instructions to root your ZTE Racer.
If you are unable to find the APK file on the URL given above, you can download the APK from here directly to your desktop. After download, simply connect your phone to PC, mount SD card and save the downloaded APK file to SD card root. You can then use any file manager available in the market (Linda File Manager, Astro File Manager) to install this APK.
And there you go! you now have root!
We have several reports that this root might only act as a temporary root and if that’s the case, then you’l have to repeat the above procedure every time your phone reboots. In case this method doesn’t work for you, you can try the SuperOneClick Root method posted here. Please try the SuperOneClick at your own risk as there are no reports of ZTE Racer getting root with this application as yet.

Root Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 With LeshaK’s Kernel

As promised, I am back with a complete, step-by-step guide to rooting Samsung’s Galaxy Spica/Lite/Portal i5700 Android handset, using LeshaK’s Kernel Spica v.LK2.02. Not only is this root easy without any complex commands, but also it brings nicety such as full root, su+Superuser, support for ext2, ext3 and ext4 SD card partitions, recovery mode, etc.

A few things before I begin with the walkthrough. First, the whole credit for this guide, the kernel used and everything else goes to LeshaK, the administrator of Samdroid forum. I have just simplified his guide for average users, since most of the forum is in Russian. Second, this guide assumes that your device is running on firmware 2.1, any version above JC3, and you know how to use Odin. If you want to know how to upgrade your firmware, check out our 2.1 update guide for Spica.
Third, this guide also assumes that your Samsung Android drivers (USB modem and Composite device) are properly installed, and that you have Android Debug Bridge (adb) properly configured. If not, check our the 2.1 update guide for drivers, and tutorial for setting up adb.
Please remember that any modifications to your firmware are potentially dangerous, and while they reward greatly, you must proceed at your own risk. If you don’t know what you are doing, it is advisable to avoid rather than having a bricked device. You have been warned!
This process will not delete any of your files or settings, both in SD card and internal memory.
Without further ado, here’s how to gain root and flash LeshaK’s kernel 2.02.
To begin with, download these two files.
  1. LK2-02-1_update.zip
  2. i5700_LK2-02_PDA.zip
Also download the Odin Multiloader for Android here if you don’t have it already. You need the spica_jc3.ops file for this guide, which we have bundled with Odin.
Mount your SD card, and place LK2-02-1_update.zip in the root of SD card (it should be inside the root folder of the card, not any subfolder). See the screenshot below.
memory card update placement
Unmount the SD card in Windows, turn phone off and remove your SIM card just to be safe. Let the SD card remain inserted, and put the device in Download Mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Camera + Call End keys. The phone screen should look like this:
Download Mode
Your phone should not be connected with the PC at this time via USB cable. Run Odin as administrator, and load the extracted i5700_LK2-02_PDA.tar file as PDA in Odin. Load spica_jc3.ops as the OPS file. You may need to click Reset Files once before Odin will clear previous settings. Make sure your selections match the screenshot below.

How To Root Samsung Intercept [Step-by-step Guide]

roid phones, none of them seem to work for a few handsets, including Samsung Intercept. Fortunately, our friends at sdx-developers have found a way to root the Intercept. Although the method isn’t as straight forward as the ones available for most other phones, it has been reported to work for several users. Read on after the break to try it out for yourself and get root access on your device.

Disclaimer: Please follow this guide at your own risk. AddictiveTips will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.
What this method does is, it basically replaces the unrooted kernel of the phone with a rooted one. The rooted kernel includes all the stock Samsung Intercept kernel’s modules along with a few additional files and settings from the Samsung Moment.
Here is how it’s done:
  1. Download ‘Samsung Moment Update’ from the link given below, and install it to your computer.
  2. Download ‘LouZiffer’s Samsung Updater Patch’ from the link given below, and install it to your computer.
  3. Download ‘Intercept Recovery’ from the link given below and save it in following location, depending on your operating system.
    For 32 bit Windows:

    C:\Program Files\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary

    For 64 bit Windows:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary
Make ABSOLUTELY SURE that you delete the file that is already there, or else you may PERMANANTLY BRICK your phone.
  4. Download the USB drivers for your phone using the link given below, and extract them to a location on your computer.
  5. Power on your phone in download mode by holding its ‘Volume Down’, ‘Camera’ and ‘End’ buttons, and connect it to your computer.
  6. When prompted, choose to install the drivers manually rather than letting Windows search for them automatically, and specify the location from the previous step.
  7. Run the SWUpgrade program that you installed in step one, and follow its instructions step by step. Be patient with the reboots as it might take a long time for the device to boot during the process.
  8. On your phone’s SD Card, make the following folders:
    /sdx/updates

    /sdx/zip

    /sdx/backup
  9. Download ‘inxane’s kernel’ from the link given below and place it in the SD Card’s /sdx/zip folder.
  10. Boot your phone into recovery mode by first powering it off and then holding its ‘Volume Down’, ‘Talk’ and ‘End’ buttons.
  11. Select the ‘Install zip from SD Card’ option from recovery.
  12. Reboot your phone once it has installed the zip.
And that’s it – you now have a rooted Samsung Intercept. If anything goes wrong, start over and make sure you follow the steps in the EXACT order, or you can head over to the corresponding threads to contact the community for assistance in case anything goes wrong.
This method was originally posted on SDX-Developer a few months ago. The kernel file’s link got dead in the meantime and those at XDA-Developers started a thread on it with working download links to the missing files, and some refinements to the method.
Download Samsung Moment Update
Download LouZiffer’s Samsung Updater Patch
Download Samsung Intercept Recovery
Download USB Drivers
Download inxane’s Kernel

Use Odin To Root Samsung Galaxy S i9000 Running Android 2.3 Gingerbread

SamsungGalaxyGingerIts only fair that Samsung’s most powerful Android device to date should be on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. While Samsung has announced that they would be upgrading the Galaxy S to Gingerbread, custom Gingerbread ROMs for the device are already available.
An unrooted Samsung Galaxy I9000 running a Gingerbread is pretty much like the Jedi’s without their light sabers or Master Yoda with no control over The Force. What’re you waiting for? Read ahead on how to use a simple procedure to root your device.

Disclaimer: Please follow this guide at your own risk. AddictiveTips will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.

Prerequisites:

Procedure:

  1. To begin, download the above mentioned .tar file onto your PC.
  2. Now turn off your device and wait for 30 seconds before moving to the next step.
  3. Enter download mode by pressing and holding the Volume Down + Power + Home Key for a good 3 seconds.
  4. Once you’ve entered Download Mode, run ODIN on the PC.
  5. Now connect your phone to your PC via the USB interface.
  6. In ODIN, click the ‘PDA’ button and browse to the ‘.tar’ file already downloaded. Select that file.
  7. Check the ‘Auto-Reboot’ option only.
  8. Lastly click Start and wait for the process to complete. Once the process completes,  the phone will reboot.
As pointed out by one of our repspectable commntators, here is the procedure to fix non rebooting after 10 seconds option:
There’s no need to do factory reset if the 10 seconds rebooting problem occurs.
Solution:
1) 10 seconds is enough to go to airplane mode – cca. 3s pushing Power button – and select Airplane mode
This way I kept my phone constantly turned on.
2) Turn on Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging
3) Follow these steps to install Gingerbread 2.3.4:http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-official-android-2-3-4-xxjvp-gingerbread-rom-on-galaxy-s-i9000/

How To Root Samsung Galaxy S II I9100

samsung_galaxy_s_2-root
We have just received confirmation of the Samsung Galaxy S II being rooted in a very simple manner, by installing an insecure version of the original XWKDD Android kernel to it. Brought to us by XDA-Developers forum member Chainfire, the method lacks Superuser and Busybox installation but there is a workaround for it. More on the rooting method after the jump.
As said earlier, the root lacks Superuser and Busybox but some Galaxy S II users have reported a workaround for that as well. The root process basically involves flashing the modified insecure kernel via ODIN and then using SuperOneClick to get Superuser and Busyox installed on your phone.
Let’s put this into an instruction set but before we do that, we cannot stress enough that this guide is only for people who understand the risks involved in rooting their devices and can bring their devices back to normal in case something goes wrong. The method is still experimental but feedback from other forum members on the thread has been positive so far.
Disclaimer: Please follow this guide at your own risk. AddictiveTips will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.
Requirements:
Instructions:
  1. To begin, you need to put your phone in download mode. Do so by pressing Volume Down + Home + Power.
  2. Now connect your phone to the pc via the USB cable and run ODIN and make sure Repartition is unchecked.
  3. Click on the PDA tab in ODIN and navigate to the location of XWKDD_insecure kernel.tar and select it.
  4. Once selected press the Start button and the kernel will be flashed in a few seconds.
  5. After flashing the kernel, the phone will reboot with the new insecure kernel installed.
  6. Once it reboots, run the SuperOneClick tool and hit the Root button.
Ideally this should work for your as it has for quite a few people in the forum. You can visit the forum thread at XDA-Developers for updates and any queries you might have. Do let us know how this worked out for you.

Root / Unroot Samsung Galaxy 3 Running Android 2.2 FroYo

Samsung Galaxy 3 FroYoWhile z4root is one of the easiest ways to root most Android phones, it does not work on Samsung Galaxy 3 if it is running Android 2.2 FroYo. 6. Once your phone has been rooted, download ‘BusyBox’ from the link given below, extract the .apk file from the zip archive and install it to your phone, and that should fix any slowdown issues that you might come across after rooting.

  1. Download ‘Root Explorer’ from the link given below, extract the .apk file from the zip archive and install it on your phone.
  2. Run ‘Root Explorer’ from your phone.

  9. Exit Root Explorer. Your phone will now be unrooted.
How to unroot your phone (alternative method):
  1. Download ‘Terminal Emulator’ from the link given below, extract the .apk file from the zip archive and install it to your phone.
  2. Run Terminal Emulator on your phone. In case the keyboard doesn’t show up, press menu and tap ‘Toggle Soft Keyboard’.
